Enrolling Your Child
Most children start their schooling at five years of age. Attendance is compulsory at age six. At enrolment, please bring your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record with you. This is a legal requirement and the documents must be sighted. They will be returned immediately. (Evidence of birth date may also be taken from passports if a birth certificate is not available.)
You will be asked details concerning doctor, medical problems (e.g. asthma, allergic reactions to bee stings, wasp stings etc) We must know these things if we are to help your child in an emergency. You will also be asked to complete a Health Form and permission slips for involvement in school activities and walks out into the immediate community.
You will also be issued with
• a list of required stationery (available for purchase at the school office)
• a school uniform list (the uniform is compulsory and must be worn correctly) – see the section on school uniforms - NZUniforms on Cameron Road opposite Tauranga Primary is our sole uniform stockists.
We gift a kete of learning 'goodies' for all New Entrants after a meeting with parents following their School Entry Assessments to have at home including a Duffy Book, alphabet chart, high frequency word lists and number flips etc.
On their first day once you have met with the teacher and your child has been seated with the other children, it is better for you and your child if you leave.
Pre-school visits are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the school.
