I am a seed born of greatness
Maarawaewae pertains to the feet (waewae) that walked the garden (maara). The many gardeners who grew kai to feed not only locally but regionally as well - the gardens stretched to the hospital, the back of the racecourse, down to Tauranga Intermediate School, and out to Poike. It was from these gardens that kai was grown to feed local people, including warriors who fought in pakanga (battle) as well as being sent to the Kīngitanga and places as far as Whakatōhea and Auckland.
Our School is based fundamentally on loving and sustaining relationships with trust, open communication and collaboration and positivity. It is unique. We are the stability and security each child deserves. We are here to serve our students and to cause their learning.
Te Kura o Maarawaewae is in the “heart of Greerton Village” and is proud to be the centre of such a great community”.
